Welcome to PeriodLog. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal health information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

PeriodLog is built with privacy as a core principle. All your sensitive health data is stored locally on your device. By using PeriodLog, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

PeriodLog is designed with privacy in mind. The application operates primarily locally on your device. All sensitive health data, including period dates, symptoms, health metrics, and personal notes, are stored locally on your device.

The following information may be stored locally on your device:

  • Period start and end dates
  • Flow intensity and cycle information
  • Symptoms and their severity levels
  • Health metrics (BBT, weight, sleep, exercise, water intake, etc.)
  • Mood tracking data
  • Personal notes and custom symptoms
  • App preferences and settings

All of this information is stored locally on your device using encrypted local storage.We do not have access to this data unless you explicitly choose to enable optional cloud backup.

2.2 Optional Cloud Backup

If you choose to enable optional cloud backup, your data will be encrypted using AES-256 encryption before being transmitted. The encryption keys are stored only on your device, ensuring that even we cannot access your encrypted data.

Cloud backup is completely optional. You can use PeriodLog fully offline without any cloud services.

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

The application may collect certain information automatically, including:

  • Device information (model, operating system version) for app functionality
  • App usage statistics (stored locally only)
  • Crash reports and error logs (only if you opt-in to share them for app improvement)

3. How We Use Your Information

Since all sensitive data is stored locally on your device, we use your information solely to:

  • Provide and maintain the functionality of the application
  • Enable period tracking, cycle prediction, and health monitoring features
  • Generate AI-powered predictions based on your cycle patterns (processed locally)
  • Store and organize your period, symptom, and health data
  • Provide personalized insights and analytics
  • Improve app performance and user experience
  • Provide customer support when requested

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, or any commercial purposes.We do not sell, rent, or share your health data with third parties. Your data is never used to train AI models or for any purpose other than providing you with the PeriodLog service.

4. Data Storage and Security

All your sensitive health data is stored locally on your device. This includes:

  • Period and cycle data stored in an encrypted local database (SQLCipher)
  • Symptoms, health metrics, and mood data stored locally
  • App settings and preferences stored in local storage

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Database Encryption: SQLCipher encryption for local database
  • Cloud Backup Encryption: AES-256 end-to-end encryption for optional cloud backups
  • Biometric Protection: Optional Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint authentication
  • Secure Communication: TLS 1.3 for any network communications

However, please note that no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, including using device-level security features like screen locks and biometric authentication.

Important: If you uninstall the application, all locally stored data will be permanently deleted unless you have enabled cloud backup. We recommend backing up important data before uninstalling.

5. Third-Party Services

PeriodLog may use the following third-party services:

  • Cloud Backup Service (Optional): If you enable cloud backup, your encrypted data may be stored with a cloud service provider. Your data is encrypted with keys that only you control, ensuring that the cloud provider cannot access your data.
  • Analytics Service (Optional): We may use analytics services to understand app usage patterns and improve the app. These services only collect anonymized, aggregated data and do not include any personal health information. You can opt-out of analytics in app settings.
  • Crash Reporting (Optional): If you opt-in, crash reports may be sent to help us fix bugs. These reports do not include personal health data.

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them. However, we ensure that no personal health data from PeriodLog is shared with these services in an unencrypted or identifiable form.

6. Data Export and Sharing

PeriodLog allows you to export your data in various formats:

  • PDF Reports: Generate professional PDF reports for healthcare providers
  • CSV Export: Export your data as CSV files for personal records or analysis
  • Date Range Selection: Export data for specific time periods

You have complete control over when and how you share your data. PeriodLog does not automatically share your data with anyone. All sharing is initiated by you, and you choose what data to include in exports.

7. Children's Privacy

PeriodLog is intended for individuals who are at least 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete such information.

If you are under 18, please ensure you have your parent's or guardian's permission before using PeriodLog.

8. Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over your information:

  • Access: You can view all your data anytime within the app
  • Edit: You can edit and correct any information at any time
  • Delete: You can delete individual entries or all app data through app settings
  • Export: You can export your data in PDF or CSV formats
  • Portability: Full data portability - export all your data whenever you want
  • Uninstall: Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all local data (unless cloud backup is enabled)

If you have enabled cloud backup, you can also delete your cloud backup data at any time through the app settings.

9. GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA Considerations

PeriodLog is designed with privacy regulations in mind:

  • GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation): We respect your data rights under GDPR. Since data is stored locally, you have full control. If you use cloud backup, you can request data deletion at any time.
  • CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act): We do not sell your personal information. You have the right to know what data is collected, delete your data, and opt-out of data sharing.
  • HIPAA Considerations: While PeriodLog is not a covered entity under HIPAA, we implement security measures that align with HIPAA best practices to protect your health information.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.

For significant changes, we may also notify you through the app or via email if you have provided your email address. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
